Olspher
Form of Government: Democratic Noocracy
Government Structure: Olspher is know as a Democratic Noocarcy for two reasons. 1. Elections are held for all public offices, and 2. Society outside of the direct goverment is a hierarchy of wisdom (those who are wise gain more social standing.) The most respected office that can be held in Olspher is to be a member of the Wisdom Council, though debateably it is not necessarily the most powerful position. Other offices include a Chancellor, Prime Minister below that, and a board of Ministers below that. As well as a Parliament which consists of the House of the People, and the House of Wisdom. For more on Olspherian goverment you can visit the Wiki.
NationStates Government Type: Democratic Socialist
Capital City: The three most prominent cities in Olspher are Krateíto, Quintin, and Soulsar.
Currency: The Orsper
Economic System: Socialist
Political Parties: It is against Olspherian policy to have political parties. Though people commonly share the same opinions and get together to express those opinions, no political parties officially exist. This is so the people have the right to their own ideas but the nation stand's undivided.
National Motto: Philosophía Krateíto Photôn or "The Love of Wisdom and Knowledge Rules Humanity"
Culture: There is one word that can about sum up the culture of Olspher and that is "Wisdom". In almost all traditions and customs you will see some allusion to wisdom or something like it. There is one thing that Olspher is famous for when you are within its borders, and this is of course Ingra Modostri, or "The Great Game of Wisdom" in the old Olspherian language (which is basically the old Mappa Mundian language). This game is not something you see happening, it takes the ruse of a simple conversion, or sometimes an argument, but in reality (or some shade of reality) it is a game of wisdom and wits, something of a great more importance to the Olspherian people then a mere conversion. Many visitors to Olspher seem to get pulled into this game without even knowing it, and soon they will find themselves a virtual member of society as far as the Olspherian people are concerned. The Game of Wisdom is played between two or more people when they meet for the first time to decide who is wiser, the "winner" of the game will take position as subtly more superior. After playing this game throughout your life with many diffrent people, the average person in Olspher can determine his place in society, which can of course always be changed. For Ingra Modostri is not just played once (though the first time is arguable the most important between two people) but all the time, with people constantly fluctuating from one position (in society) to another. This establishes Olspher as a Noocracy though supposedly The Great Game of Wisdom only influences society and not the goverment. Though it has been noted that people of a much higher influence due to their wisdom are much more likely to be elected into higher offices within the goverment, but this as a rule has been broken more then once.
Lingra Modostri is the word used to describe the "Hierarchy of Wisdom" within Olspher, where everyone stands in terms of respect and influence relative to how well they play Ingra Modostri. It must be understood though, that there is no real complete true idea of what wisdom should be, so there may be many different Lingra Modostri or hierarchies (this is a simple way of putting it to help those who do not speak ancient Olspherian). Though the word in itself would cover these ["second Lingra Modostri"] as well. The exact meaning is very hard to contemplate, for it would in effect be one word to describe every sort of thought process or idea (wisdom) of every single person at once.
The above is simply a small part of Olspherian culture.
Religion: Though Olspher practices free religion, there is currently one religion native to the country taking hold of the public. Known as Mytherianism after the last Philosopher King, Mytherian III. Like the Philosopher King preached it includes acceptance of all forms of thought, but skepticism of all forms at the same time. He also believed that after death people would literally become the future ideas and thoughts of later generations. More on this religion will be added to the wiki later.
History: Olspher is arguably one of the oldest nations in the Region of Terriya, it was created by the "Wisdom Council" or advisers to the last Emperor of the Nation of Terriya. The Last Emperor known as Octus II grew corrupt and plunged the nation into turmoil, The Wisdom Council looked at their once glorious Empire that had now erupted into chaos and decided to break away for the sake of Wisdom. It was easy for them to gain support and they settled in what around today is Modern Olspher, quickly raised a small army among their followers and fended off attacks. They were almost conquered in the Battle of Carcelt (a large city near the aspiring capital of Orspen at the time) but due to a superior strategy Olspher prevailed by a hairs breath.
After everything seemed to settle down Olspher entered its first age of prosperity, known as The First Age of Wisdom. At this point in time the Wisdom Council was the goverment, deciding all important matters and leaving the smaller ones to be sorted out among the people. The economy unexpectedly flourished and though there were many wars and squabbles outside the border of Olspher, peace presided within it, and no one deemed it important enough to attack. Though Olspher slowly grew, and the Wisdom Council realized it was to big at this point for them to govern, so they formed the first proper goverment of Olspher. This ended up to be a semi-aristocracy, and past this point the government's of seemingly been in a constant flux, the only absolute being the Wisdom Council. The longest goverment in Olspher and possibly also the most famous was the period of the Philosopher Kings.
